Yertle the Turtle

Why Dr. Seuss Wrote Yertle the Turtle:

Dr. Seuss liked to explain his point of view in his writing. Yertle the Turtle was his view on oppression, and how one could overcome it with a peaceful resolution.

Assignment:

Dr. Seuss ends the book with the Absolute Monarchy of King Yertle overthrown. This has left the island of Sala-ma-Sond without a government. You need to write the sequel to the story and within it establish and explain a new type of government for the island.

Requirements:

  • Identify and explain the new government on the island of Sala-ma-Sond.
  • Account for the characters of Mack & Yertle.
  • Use Seuss-style writing
